১) তোষকের কোণায় কর্পুরের কিউব দিয়ে রাখুন। পোকার সমস্যা কমবে।
২) বুক সেলফে ন্যাপথলিন এবং নিমপাতা দিয়ে রাখুন। পোকা বই কাটবে না।
৩) নিয়মিত ভ্যাকুয়াম ক্লিনার দিয়ে কার্পেট পরিষ্কার করুন।
৪) কিচেন সিঙ্কের মধ্যে মাঝেমধ্যে গরম পানি আর কোনো ডিসইনফেকট্যান্ট ঢেলে পরিষ্কার করুন। অন্ধকার, ভেজা জায়গায় রেডিমেড ইনসেক্ট কিলার স্প্রে ব্যবহার করতে পারেন।
৫) পিঁপড়া যেখান দিয়ে ঢুকছে সেখানে কেরোসিন বা পেট্রোলিয়াম জেলি দিয়ে আউটলাইন করে দিন। দরজা এবং জানালার কাছে বোরাক্স পাউডার দিয়ে রাখুন। পিঁপড়া ঢুকবে না। মাঝেমধ্যে গরম পানি, সাবান আর কেরোসিন তেলের মিশ্রণকে ফ্লোর ক্লিনার হিসেবে ব্যবহার করতে পারেন।
৬) ঘরের পাশেই বাগান থাকলে বা ঘরে ড্যাম্প ভাব থাকলে সেখানে পোকার উপদ্রব বেশি হয়। এক্ষেত্রে দেয়াল ঘেঁষে খাট রাখবেন না। খাটের পায়ার নিচের অংশের চারদিক মেটাল স্ট্যান্ড লাগিয়ে দিন। সম্ভব না হলে পেট্রোলিয়াম জেলির কোট লাগান। পোকা খাটে উঠতে পারবে না।
৭) আর্দ্র আবহাওয়ায় পোকামাকড় বেশি দেখা যায়। কীটনাশক হিসেবে নিমপাতার গুঁড়ো এবং কাঁচা মরিচের মিশ্রণ ব্যবহার করুন। এগুলো ক্ষতিকারক নয়, আবার পোকাও দূরে রাখবে।
৮) অনেকসময় জামাকাপড়, সিল্কের শাড়ির মধ্যে মথের মতো পোকা দেখা যায়। সাধারণ অপরিষ্কার জামাকাপড় স্টোর করলে এই ধরনের পোকা হতে পারে। তাই পোশাক সবসময় পরিষ্কার করে ধুয়ে শুকিয়ে তারপর ন্যাপথলিন বল দিয়ে ওয়ার্ড্রোবে গুছিয়ে রাখুন।
